El primer caso clínico de Amato Lusitano: una mordedura de víboraedición crítica y traducción

Abstract

A critica! edition of Amatus Lusitanus' first curatio, happened in Portugal at the very beginning of his career, is presented in this paper. Ali known editions are collated with each other, and their variants readings are gathered in a critical apparatus. An apparatus fontium is also included, in which cited authors and works, parallels and influences can be found. A Spanish version with notes is added to the Latin text. Moreover, a general and previous introduction is added to cover the following subjects: sources, historical development, language, style, editorial diffusion and editorial criteria. At the end of the article a small glossary of medicinal ingredients and preparations is also offered. In conclusion, this paper aims to show a case-study of the Centuriae's edition and translation that the Research Team Speculum medicinae is currently carrying out at the University of Valladolid.
