Resumen

Advising health professionals who work with newborns about postural plagiocephaly (risk factors, prevention, diagnosis and treatment). Material and Methods: bibliographic search in Pubmed, Cuiden and Embase, with “plagiocefalia” and “recién nacido” Spanish descriptors, and English descriptors: "plagiocephaly" and "newborn". Conclusion: Postural plagiocephaly involves aesthetic, physical, psychosocial and developmental problems. Constantly changing the newborn posture, stimulating their attention from both right and left sides and placing them in the prone position, always under supervision, is essential to prevent it. For the treatment: repositioning, physiotherapy, orthoses and surgery, in more serious cases.
