Abstract
Modern Ages childhood was characterized by the absence of contraceptive media and a high infant mortality rate. Childs also suffered direct violence which is difficult to know and accounting. Children were frequently abandoned or handed over to hospices. This work is about a child put down at Valladolid’s orphanage who had a woman in charge of taking care of him. This woman tried to kill the child. Infanticide -not filicide- was avoided by chance. This case allows us to analyze the reality of abandond children, the institutions in charge of them -casas de expósitos-, their organization and the women who take care of the minors.
