Abstract
Romantic nature is usually interpreted as a bucolic and ideal kind of nature, nevertheless, the relationship between Romantics and nature is, in fact, a tragic one. Though the fusion between man and nature is one of the most important Roman-tic ideals, that fusion is impossible, and therefore, tragic. This work deals with that tragic relationship and explores its forms in some Gothic and Romantic Landscapes in which we can find elements of loss and absence or aesthetic categories such as the sublime and the uncanny
