Abstract

The primary objective of this work is the analysis of the evolution of the structure of the units of the Spanish Army in which heavy armored vehicles have been integrated. Thus, it is studied how the incorporation of tanks led to the appearance of new units and how these have evolved over the years to the present day. Attention is mainly paid to the heavy units of the Army, that is, those equipped with tanks. On the other hand, the actions carried out by the various official organizations aimed at providing armored vehicles to the Spanish Army are analyzed. In this framework, the agreements reached with other nations, mainly France, the United States and Germany, to acquire these means are discussed.
