The chapters in this thesis have been published or are currently in press or under evaluation in per-reviewed journals except for chapters 1 and 2 ( Introduction and Background) as well as chapters 7 and 8 (Conclusions and References). Chapter 1: Introduction. Not published. I was the sole author of this chapter. Dr. Natalia Caldés provided comments and review. Chapter 2: Antecedents. Not published. I was the sole author of this chapter. Dr. Natalia Caldés provided comments and review. Chapter 3: European Territorial Cooperation Programmes and Evaluation Processes. Lessons Learnt and definition of a Cross-programme evaluation framework in the Mediterranean. Submitted in June 2015 to European Structural Funds Journal and published in September 2015. I was the sole author of this chapter. Dr. Natalia Caldes provided comments and review. European Structural Funds Journal (Vol 3, issue 2, pp 56-68). Chapter 4: European Territorial Cooperation effects on the promotion and use of solar energy in the Mediterranean Area. This chapter was submitted as a scientific paper to the interdisciplinary open access journal Regional Studies, Regional Science in November 2015 and was approved in February 2016. I was the sole author of this chapter. Dr. Natalia Caldes provided comments and review. Additionally, with this article I was granted for the participation in the international academic event: “Open Days University Master Class, understanding of EU Cohesion Policy and its research potential”. Brussels, 12th - 15th October 2015. Organisers: EU Commission and Regional Studies Association. The article was also selected to be presented in the international academic event: “Summer School on Evidence and Policy, how to optimize the use of scientific evidence in policy making”. Viena, 2nd – 4th September 2015. Organisers: Joint Research Center (EU Commission) and International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). Chapter 5: Effects of European Transnational Cooperation on the promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in IPA countries: the experience of the MED programme This chapter was selected to be presented in the 8th International Scientific Conference on: “Energy and Climate Change, Contributing to deep decarbonisation”. Athens, 7th October 2015. Organisers: National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The chapter was co-authored with Professor Yorgos Stephanedes, Professor and Director of Environmental and Transportation Engineering Department at University of Patras. The paper was published in the conference proceedings with the ISBN: 978-618-82339-2-8 (pp. 281-293). Chapter 6: MED programme and Trnasnational Cooperation contributions to Marine Renewable Energy in the Mediterranean area. What´s next? This chapter was selected to be presented in the International Scientific Conference on “Offshore wind and other marine renewable energies in the Mediterranean and European seas”. Roma, 9th October 2015. Organisers: OWEMES Association and Sapienza University.The chapter was co-authored with Dr. Natalia Caldes and was submitted to the open access journal “International Journal of Marine Energy” in November 2015 and is currently under revision. Chapter 7: Conclusions and current and future research lines Not published. I was the sole author of this chapter. Dr. Natalia Caldes provided comments and review.
