Segismundo Samuel Izquierdo Millán (Santander, 1972) is a Professor in the Department of Business Management (Organización de Empresas) at the Universidad de Valladolid, specializing in evolutionary game theory and Industrial Organization. He has been a visiting professor at various international institutions and has received prestigious awards, including a Fulbright Program grant. From 1998 to 2001, he worked as a business consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, developing start-ups in Madrid, London, and Prague. His PhD dissertation, which received a special mention from the Universidad de Valladolid, focused on System Identification and Econometrics. Since 2001, he has taught several university courses, primarily in microeconomics, business management, and information systems. His research focuses on the economic and social dimensions of human interactions, employing techniques from evolutionary game theory, computational simulation, stochastic processes, and artificial intelligence. As a visiting researcher at several world-class institutions, he has collaborated with leading figures in Economics and evolutionary game theory, including: University of British Columbia (Canada, 2023-2024): Collaborated with Professor Christoph Hauert (https://personal.math.ubc.ca/~hauert/), a leading figure in Evolutionary Game Theory and Dynamics of nonlinear and complex systems. University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA, 2016 and 2018): Collaborated with Professor William H. Sandholm, author of Population Games and Evolutionary Dynamics. European University Institute (Florence, Italy, 2009–2010): Worked with Professor Fernando Vega-Redondo, author of Economics and the Theory of Games. Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden, 2006): Visited the team of Professor Jörgen Weibull, former Chairman of the Nobel Memorial Prize Committee and author of a reference book in evolutionary game theory. Professor Izquierdo Millán publishes regularly in top-tier journals such as Journal of Economic Theory, Theoretical Economics, Games and Economic Behavior, Journal of Theoretical Biology, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, or Journal of Business Research. His work is frequently cited in contemporary reviews of evolutionary game theory (e.g., https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4336/9/2/31). Additionally, he is the co-author of widely used research software for evolutionary game theory, such as ABED and EvoDyn. He is a standing member of the scientific committees for various social simulation congresses and serves as a frequent reviewer for journals such as Nature Human Behaviour, International Journal of Game Theory, and Physical Review E. Furthermore, he has supervised over 20 MSc theses and, between 2018 and 2021, coordinated the Degree in Industrial Engineering at the Universidad de Valladolid.
