Doctor by the Universidad de Valladolid with the thesis Caracterización termodinámica de combustibles líquidos de nueva generación con componentes renovables mediante un nuevo calorímetro isobárico de alta presión y medidas densitométricas 2009. Supervised by Dr. José Juan Segovia Puras, Dr. Jhon Paul Martin Trusler.
I am a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Valladolid (UVa), Spain, with over 15 years of research and academic experience in the US, Spain, and the UK. My research interest is thermophysical properties of complex fluid mixtures. I apply my expertise to various areas including CCUS; bioenergy/biofuels; hydrogen production, transport, storage; and long-term monitoring of decommissioned offshore installations. My research experience spans experimental thermodynamics (including calorimetry and phase behaviour), fundamental measurement science (including acoustic techniques for gas properties and new standards in temperature, and hygrometry based on microwaves), and surface chemistry. I have supervised 7 theses and currently oversee 5 more. My teaching responsibilities currently include Thermodynamics and Thermodynamic Properties of gases and liquids. I have built my career at NIST -US-, Imperial College London -UK-, and at the University of Aberdeen -UK-. Before joining UVa in 2020, I served as a senior lecturer (associate professor) in energy engineering, Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage Aberdeen Champion (CCUS), member of the Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage (SCCS) directorate, and coordinator of the world's first and only Master’s degree program in decommissioning oil rigs, platforms, and offshore structures. More widely, I work across academia, industry, and the third sector on projects spanning research, education, technical consultancy, and public engagement. If you are interested in working with me in any way, please don't hesitate to get in touch. https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0464-1505 https://publons.com/researcher/2943330/david-vega-maza/ https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=23486862100 https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=reoranQAAAAJ&hl=en
