Architect from the University of Valladolid, 1986. Extraordinary End of Degree Award. Specialization in intervention on Heritage at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Researcher of the National Research Plan in the Department of Architectural Theory and Architectural Projects of the University of Valladolid, from January 1987 to October 1990. He received his PhD from the University of Valladolid in 1999 with the thesis Las Transformaciones Arquitectónicas de la Basílca de Santa María la Mayor en Roma (The Architectural Transformations of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome). He obtained a scholarship at the Spanish Academy of Archaeology, History and Fine Arts in Rome. Specialising in ARCHITECTURE, he spent his time in Rome from October 1989 to July 1990, maintaining a constant relationship with the academic institutions of the city through research and teaching stays. Professor of Architectural Projects at the University of Valladolid since 2000 and Director of the Department of Architectural Theory and Architectural Projects at the same University, from January 2019 to May 2023. Accredited University Professor since October 2024. He develops his teaching and research activity in the field of the Architecture, Landscape Project and in the Intervention on Cultural Heritage. Author of several books and articles in national and foreign magazines. He regularly teaches at the Universities of Roma Tre, Porto, Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Bari. He participates in different courses and doctorates at different national and international universities. Since October 2024 accredited to University Professor. Member of the Research Group (GIR), Laboratory for Research and Intervention in the Architectural, Heritage and Cultural Landscape, together with Darío Álvarez, to develop Architecture, Landscape and Heritage projects, developing research and projects in the archaeological field, selected at the XI Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, 2011 and finalist in the 2020 Biennial. Special Mention Piranesi, Prix de Rome 2014 and Scientific Recognition Prix de Rome 2018 from the Academia Adrianea di Architettura y Archeologia de Roma. 1st Prize for research by the International Network of Ibero-American Historical and Cultural Heritage 2016. Founding member of the ICADA Group (International Center for Architectural Design and Archaeology) based in Rome. Co-director of the Clunia Archaeological Site in Burgos (Provincial Council) since 1995. Since 2006, he has been responsible for "Tiermes, Cultural Laboratory". Developing the research work and the set of architectural interventions. Corresponding Academician of the Real Academia Burgense de Historia y Bellas Artes INSTITUCIÓN FERNÁN GONZÁLEZ. Since December 2016. He has supervised 6 Doctoral Theses and has 5 recognized six-year periods (4 Research and one transfer). Principal Investigator in several Research Projects in Regional and National Calls. Member of the Technical Education Committee in the Teaching Staff Evaluation Programme for Recruitment of ANECA, from February 2016 to December 2019.Member of the Advisory Committee for the Evaluation of Teaching Staff (CAEP) of ANECA, from December 2020 to December 2022. Director, of the Master's Degree in Lifelong Learning in Skills for the Management of Cultural Heritage. University of Valladolid.
