Doctor by the Universidad de Salamanca with the thesis Dinámica de la recuperación de zonas alteradas por movimientos de tierra sucesión vegetal y clasificación de especies según su actividad colonizadora 1999. Supervised by Dr. Belén Fernández Santos, Dr. José Manuel Gómez Gutiérrez.

PhD in Life Sciences at the University of Salamanca (1999). Professor in Ecology at the University of Valladolid (ETSIIAA,Palencia). Member of the Research Institute of Sustainable Forest Management (IuFOR). Member of the University of Valladolid GIR (Grupo de Investigación Reconocido/ ‘recognized research group’) Ecology and Conservation of Flora and Fauna from 11/12/2020, and Head of the groupr from 2020 to 2025. Head of UIC (Consolidated research Unit) no. 405, EcoResUVa, working on restoration ecology. Main research line on vegetation dynamics in disturbed ecosystems whose results are beneficial in the proposal and follow-up of vegetation restoration measures to favour grassland conservation and natural forest expansion. This circumstance has allowed collaboration with several companies and foundations through research contracts. More recently, my research has been extended to the study of the effect of silvicultural practices, including the mixing of tree species, on vegetation and soil dynamics, and the provision of ecosystem services (carbon sequestration and conservation of plant diversity). Supervisor of 7 PhD Thesis, 3 ‘Grade of Bachelor’, 3 ‘supervised research works’, 16 final master's research works, 24 final grade's research works, 5 Bachelor of Excellence research works, 5 other academic research works, and 20 internship students in companies. Coordinator of the Doctoral Program G06 Sciences of the Natural Environment of the Department of Agroforestry Sciences (E.T.S.II.AA. of Palencia; University of Valladolid) during two academic years (2000-2001 / 2001-2002). University Harmonizer of PAU (university entrance exams) of the subject “Earth Science and the environment” from the academic year 2007-2008 to 2010-2011 (4 years). Head of the Ecological Restoration Working Group of the Spanish Association of Terrestrial Ecology (AEET) from 2012 to 2021 (10 years). Coordinator of the Bachelor of Research/Excellence in the modality of Sciences and Technology between the ETSIIAA (Univ. Valladolid) and the IES Trinidad Arroyo from the academic year 2014-15 to 2018-19 (the first 5 years of implementation).
