Fernando Buitrago is Associate Professor at University of Valladolid, where he is also a member of the Interdisciplinary Disruptive Science Laboratory (LaDIS), and an External Collaborator of the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences in Portugal. He studied Physics and Computer Science at University of Salamanca, his hometown university, and has subsequently carried out academic and research work in Tenerife, Nottingham — where he completed his PhD — Edinburgh, and Lisbon. In addition to his teaching and research activities — including the coordination of the GEELSBE2 and IGADLE projects, as well as the Diffuse Light group within the Euclid Consortium of the European Space Agency — he has been extensively involved in science communication and outreach in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. He is Director of the EPUVa Consolidated Research Unit. He also serves as Deputy Coordinator of the “Astronomy and Culture” committee of the Spanish Astronomical Society, association in which he also serves as a member of the executive board.
