Miguel Ángel García-Fuentes holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Valladolid and has over 12 years of experience in project management, applied research, and innovation in fields such as energy efficiency in buildings, digitalisation of the built environment, and the development of smart and climate-neutral cities. Throughout his career, he has successfully coordinated several projects funded by the European Commission, including REMOURBAN, OptEEmAL, NEUTRALPATH, and EU Sparks for Climate, leading international consortia and developing integrated strategies for urban regeneration, energy retrofitting, and citizen engagement. Professionally, he spent much of his career at the CARTIF Technology Centre, where he served as Director of the Energy Efficiency Area in Buildings and Industry, and later as Director of Business Development, also being a member of the Management Committee. Since 2024, he has worked as a senior innovation consultant at Barrabés.biz, leading proposals for the public sector and European programmes. He has also collaborated with international consultancies such as Contango in the United Arab Emirates, designing innovation strategies for companies owned by the ADQ sovereign wealth fund in sectors such as waste management (Tadweer) and railway transport (Etihad Rail). In parallel, he maintains an active academic role as Associate Professor at the University of Valladolid and online Master's lecturer at the Universidad Europea Miguel de Cervantes, having also collaborated with institutions such as the University of Almería and ISCTE in Lisbon. His scientific output includes more than a dozen publications indexed in JCR or Scopus, and he has participated as a speaker and scientific committee member in numerous international conferences. He is also a regular peer reviewer for scientific journals and has served as an expert in networks such as the Spanish Construction Technology Platform (PTEC) and Task 59 of the International Energy Agency.
