Abstract

The relationship and interaction of the family, family members and the firm is a source of resources and distinctive capabilities of family firms that affect their behavior. The literature recognizes that knowledge and its management are the basis for dynamic capabilities generation within organizations. In this paper, we focus on this goal by using a sample of Spanish firms to evaluate our research model. The results indicate that family involvement promotes the generation of organizational routines, and therefore, the generation of dynamic capabilities in the family firm
