Resumen
La importancia del Senado, una de las instituciones que mejor caracterizan el sistema político y legislativo de la antigua Roma durante todo su devenir histórico, es manifiesta. Dada la trascendencia del ordenamiento jurídico-político romano y del republicanismo romano, es notoria su influencia en la configuración del Senado de Estados Unidos. El Senado norteamericano, paradigma de esta institución en la modernidad, se crea a imagen y semejanza de su precursor romano.
