Resumen
In the present work, the information generated in a conference organized by the Automotive Cluster of Castilla y León is used as a starting point for teaching practice. In this conference, the competitive advantages offered by additive manufacturing in the automotive industry are addressed. Once that the potential needs, common to the automotive industry, are identified, it must be raised the necessity of developing a methodology for taking to the lecture room the study of additive manufacturing with metallic materials, integrating it into two subjects of the Mechanical Engineering Degree. Both subjects are taught in the second semester of the third course: Manufacturing Processes I and Materials Engineering. We consider that we have the appropriate scenario, professors from both knowledge areas perfectly coordinated to deal with, from both subjects, a topic of current technological interest. The aim is to interrelate the variables of manufacturing processes with the structural changes generates in the material and, in this way, to optimize the in-service behaviour of the finished part. We combine contents from both disciplines and we transmit them to the student with a global and interdisciplinary approach. This will allow us to establish a higher connection between the contents, present them in a more coherent way and analyze the reciprocal influences.
