Résumé

The aim of this study is to analyze the knowledge and technical errors that users of fitness centers have about the practice of two exercises in particular: squat and bench press. 63 users (34 men and 29 women) belonging to fitness centers in the Region of Murcia and the Province of Alicante, completed a questionnaire assessing their knowledge of different concepts related to the safe practice of these exercises. The main findings showed that more than 55% of the users were unaware of the correct position of the feet and the position of the hands in the bench press. In the squat, more than 58% of users were unaware of breathing patterns and more than 34% were unaware of the need to avoid rebound at the end of the eccentric phase. Despite this, more than 70% self-reported an unsupervised practice. It is concluded that the users of these sports centers do not themselves have sufficient knowledge to be able to carry out a safe practice of these bodybuilding exercises. A practice supervised by professionals is recommended in order to avoid health risks.
